I think it actually shoots flames, but I'm only basing that off the fact that other cars can do it.
There were a few short shots where you could see the P1 shooting flames, albeit briefly. The closest to the Porsche's blue flame that I can think of is the Lamborghini Aventador power lap(S17, Ep6). Pulling out of Chicago there's a sustained blue flame coming out of the exhaust and you can see it faintly at a few other points throughout the lap. I'm sure there was some wonderful editing done to bring out the blue, but those flames were very real.
edit: Also, I think it's pretty obvious that the P1 will beat the 918 and then the LaFerrari will beat both.
I don't know, but it made things happen in my pants. HNNNNGGGGGG.
Anyway, the 2-part special should be epic. Cheap car challenge + 3rd world road trip + Top Gear tries to build something. It has the potential to trump anything they've ever done before.

Yea, it's clear that the package can create some great racing. I think it's just a matter of pressuring the drivers/teams to create more risks. When there was a chance of rain ending the race, everyone started pushing for the front and that created pack racing.
The cold weather definitely helped too, 204 mph even with the restrictor plates.
Of course he does everything he can to win, I'm just surprised we didn't see the high line try to hold their ground at all. They seemed much more forgiving than usual, but maybe that's just the difference between Trucks and Cup.
Good strategy by Peters, but honestly, I feel like he was just asking for a wreck with all that defensive driving. I'm (surprisingly) happy that Kyle won.
Haven't played in a while, but my number 1 beef with iRacing on the road side was course selection. I felt like every time I purchased a track, it was only good for 2-3 weeks a season (and I had a lot of cars) and then the next season it would be even less useful because new tracks would be added that got priority placement over the old tracks. I wish there was a way they could add more tracks in one season so that I could actually drive the ones I own.
I read a memoir from a man who in solitary confinement and he said the entertainment was 3 radio stations if you plug some crappy headphones into the wall. One station plays rap, one is in Spanish, and then I think the last one was actually slightly tolerable/understandable.
A PS2? Which you can play GT4 on? Hell, I'd consider trading my xBox 360 and all my games for that.
From what I've heard all the skiing/snowboarding events are having pretty poor scores because the snow is poor. During the day it's been up to 10 degrees Celsius, so the snow turns to slush and a lot of people fall.
Clarkson didn't mention this, but there's a button on the steering wheel that is used to turn on the electric motor when running the engine, giving you an instant boost in power. So, if I understand this correctly, most of the time you will run around with the 727 BHP of the engine and then a few short seconds of 903 BHP when you push the button. Or you could solely use the motor to go to the shops and back. Because, you know, you shop in a Mclaren P1.
There's rumors that the P1 originally lapped the Nurburgring slower than the Porsche 918 because the electric motor was dying before the completion of one lap. Of course, this issue has now been remedied enough that the P1 is now faster. That would mean the electric motor is good for a whopping 13 miles at full out race pace, so yea, these electric motors are really only good for short distances at full speed.
Hence why, if I had a choice, I think I'd take a Hyuara.
Good episode all around. Was pleasantly surprised to see Clarkson address the issues with the P1 instead of giving us the usual 'It's British and therefore it's fantastic' plug.
Still can't wrap my head around the P1's looks though. IMO it's styled like cars of the late 90's and early 00's. Everything is sort of warped and bubbly. I don't imagine it will age well.
